In short:

use target "export" in the ProjectBuilder, you'll be asked for the target path;
or make export RELEASEPATH=<target path> in command line environments.

The XSdk tries to export the project as properly as possible, including make.bat batch files for proper building of the subprojects (exported to a projects apart in the Symbian SDK, for it does not support them directly).
