alpha version, October 2000
The application assistant helps you to generate the applicatio skeleton, tailored to your specific needs. It uses the XSdk generic assistant support; read therefore the appropriate document if you haven't do so before.
Whenever a new project of the Epoc Application type is created, the Application Assistant automatically pops up, allowing you to specify the way how to customize the project skeleton files. The panel looks this way:

See the XSdk Assistant Support for the general controls in the window; here we shall describe just the application-specific ones inside the panel's main view:
Note: in the alpha version the templates are not quite finished yet. Therefore, the descriptions are cut down to mirror the real situation; in future XSdk release there will be considerably better facility for application customization.
Currently, the only result of this selection is whether the default document name will be pre-set to the project name (when "Document based..." or "...and allow MIME" options are selected), or whether the default document name will be an empty string (when "...does not have documents" is selected).
In future, the templates will generate the appropriate code for handling EPOC and/or MIME documents.
Just like above, the templates to generate the code for handling switchable or non-switchable views are not yet finished. Therefore, the only difference is whether you select "Application does no have any view", or any of the two remaining options. In the latter case, an empty view subproject is automatically created for you, and named "Main".
If you select the option "Prepare an engine DLL", an empty engine subproject is automatically created for you.
